Chris Foster isn’t just another name on McPherson College’s football roster. As a redshirt sophomore, Foster is on track to become only the fourth athlete in the college’s history to earn multiple All-American honors. With a First-Team All-Conference award already under his belt, he’s proving to be a force both on and off the field.
Sitting down with Foster, I quickly realized there’s more to him than his accolades. From a childhood spent chasing a Snickers bar on the football field to beating nationally ranked teams at McPherson, his journey is inspiring, heartfelt and full of grit.
A Snickers Bar and a Big Start
“I was 8 or 9 when I started playing football,” Foster said, grinning. “My dad told me if I played, he’d give me a Snickers.”
Naturally, he took the deal. It’s a Snickers—how could he say no?
That lighthearted start was the foundation of something much bigger. Foster played nearly every sport growing up—soccer, basketball, baseball, swimming and track—but football eventually won his heart.
“In high school, they sat me down and said, ‘You have to choose.’ It was tough because I loved soccer, but football just felt right,” he said.
His decision proved to be the right one. Growing up in Alabama, Foster played football at one of the highest levels of competition in the state.
“Playing at the highest level of Alabama high school football prepared me. The speed, the
intensity—it made the transition to college smoother,” he said.

A Favorite Memory and a Historic Goal
When asked about his favorite memory as a McPherson Bulldog, Foster didn’t hesitate. “Beating No. 16 Evangel. Not just for me, but for the older guys on the team who hadn’t
beaten them before. That game felt like a statement—for the program and for us as
players.”
Moments like that motivate Foster to keep pushing himself. Now, as he chases his dream of earning All-American honors multiple times, he stays grounded.
“It’s about being better every day,” he said. “I want to leave a legacy here—not just for
myself, but for my team.”
A Leader on and off the Field
Foster’s impact goes beyond stats and awards. He’s both a vocal leader and someone who
leads by example.
“I’m not afraid to speak up when my teammates need it,” he said. “But I also try to show
them through my actions—whether it’s in practice, the weight room or during games.”
This combination of vocal leadership and leading by example has made Foster a
cornerstone of the Bulldogs’ program. His ability to motivate his teammates while staying
grounded in his own work ethic is a testament to his character and determination.
Strength Through Family
Foster’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. After losing his dad at a young age, he’s
looked up to his mom as his biggest role model.
“She raised four kids on her own,” he said, his voice filled with admiration. “It was a lot on her, but she never gave up. That’s the kind of strength I want to have in everything I do.”
Her perseverance is a constant source of motivation for Foster, both on and off the field.

The Drive to Succeed
As a redshirt sophomore with already impressive accomplishments, Foster has his sights set on more—more wins, more personal growth and more memories that define his time at
McPherson. His goal to join the ranks of McPherson’s multi-time All-Americans isn’t just about the recognition. For Foster, it’s about cementing his legacy and setting an example for his teammates and future Bulldogs.
“Every game, every practice, it’s an opportunity to get better,” he said. “Whether it’s football, school or life, I want to keep pushing myself to grow.”
Looking Ahead
Foster’s story isn’t just about football. It’s about resilience, leadership and turning challenges into opportunities. Moments like beating Evangel or standing out as a leader for his team are just stepping stones in what is shaping up to be a remarkable career.
With his sights set high and his feet firmly planted in double socks, Foster is a reminder of what it means to be a Bulldog: determined, driven and ready for anything.
At just 19 years old, he’s already leaving his mark on McPherson College.
